Tara Books, a publishing house in Chennai, India,
has been taking traditional art passed down through indigenous communities for centuries,
and transforming it into handcrafted picture books, each a work of art,
delivering them to the world.
Paper is made, dyed, silk-screen printed one color at a time,
and finally carefully bound by hand.
"The Tail Story" is a tale about a little cat
who embarks on a journey to find the perfect tail.
It gradually learns the importance of being true to itself.
The artists, the Waieda brothers, with roots in the Warli tribe,
express nature and living creatures with delicate touches.
And it is presented with exquisite words by Shuntaro Tanikawa.
