Studies have shown that one in seven women in Hong Kong has suffered sexual violence, but less than ten of them will seek help, let alone disclose their experience to others. Thanks to nine survivors of childhood sexual abuse who dared to be interviewed and speak, this book is able to record their life stories. "Survivors' Words" not only contains their experiences of victimization, but more importantly, it also writes about how they faced the trauma and how they lived their current lives despite the trauma.

The nine survivors ranged from those born in the 1950s to the 1900s, and the assailants were all acquaintances. What is unimaginable is that in eight cases, the assailants were family members and relatives. Although they grew up in different generations, the interviewees in the book all face similar family difficulties. They encounter many setbacks in seeking help, but they also encounter small blessings. The problems left over from childhood have forced them to carry their identities as survivors and continue to write their future life stories on the road of recovery.

Over the past two decades, Feng Yulan has been committed to providing counseling and support to victims, and has also spared no effort in education and policy advocacy. This book is one of the educational ways to guide children and teenagers to understand sexual violence, and let the public-especially parents-understand relevant knowledge, cultivate empathy, and reduce society's secondary harm to victims.
