"Watching them shine in their work makes you want to run alongside them and shine brightly together!"
Why is the Seoul Book Fair so captivating?
Why is K-pop so good?
Why is Korea's content industry so amazing?
Driven by a strong desire to uncover these mysteries, Chen Yu-Ju, a Chinese-Korean translator well-versed in Korean culture; Liao Chien-Hua, an independent filmmaker with numerous accolades; and Chen Hsia-Min, an independent publisher with a love-hate relationship with books, decided to embark on a cross-ocean journey, despite the publishing industry facing a "glacial period" that many are pessimistic about. They visited ten independent publishers with diverse styles in the greater Seoul area, all to unearth the "great treasure" of Korea's content industry!
They were also curious: as content creators, as individual workers starting with "one," what are the work philosophies of their Korean counterparts? So, the team delved deep into the offices of independent Korean publishers, shared coffee, grilled meat, and makgeolli with them, took the subway with them, hiked mountains, set up book fairs, and even wore out the bookshelves in someone else's studio... The easygoing and interesting stories, the inspiring work philosophies, and how creative professionals strategize are all compiled here!
