"Two Summers" remains a legendary work among fans of Yoko Sano and Shuntaro Tanikawa in Japan. Its appearance was brief and brilliant, like the last fireworks of summer falling from the sky, vanishing in an instant, leaving only a trace in the heart. Twenty-five years later, Mu Ma Culture proudly presents the Traditional Chinese edition, allowing you to witness the lonely frequencies within their hearts.
This book was co-written by the two authors in a relay style. The first piece, "Nails," originally titled "Two Summers," is a summer story set in Kitakarizawa, a summer resort for Tokyoites. It is composed of the intertwined diaries of a young girl and an elderly scholar, with their different perspectives depicting the same event. When a woman becomes a girl again, and a boy becomes an adult, men and women living in their own times summon, in a relay fashion, unforgettable summers they once experienced.
The second piece, "Stay Here with Peace of Mind" and "Min's Tomb," was written by Sano about a mother and daughter, while Tanikawa narrates the story of a man related to them and a deceased person who transcends time and space.
The three concertos, interwoven with Yoko Sano's uninhibitedness and Shuntaro Tanikawa's rationality and calmness, leave a precious, jewel-like testimony to the true emotions of this moment.
