From a wandering scoundrel to a man next to the marriage constellation,
From death depression to hesitation in front of underwear advertisements;
He/they are struggling or dancing in love,
Strip away the cloak of gender, and the reclusive soul will eventually emerge——
The comrades of the 1980s and 1990s were invisible, a sick companion with the green and yellow cypress trees, or like those bluebird wanderers who left home in confusion and were separated from their parents; then, the abundance and collision of enthusiasm remained, within the shackles of the system, It was burned to ashes by accident...
Across the new century, when freedom becomes a figure that appears far and near in front of them, they still try to explore and break away from the shackles year after year, and get out of the naturally defined "male" or "female". In the face of naked emotions, I clearly and deeply experienced: "If it is not love that makes us monsters, it is love that makes us discover ourselves. And we are just monsters."
This book reflects the changes in gay life in Taiwan in the past half century, as well as the writing context of gay prose. When men and women are not neatly defined and the boundaries between bodies are blurred, no one should cut off their feet to fit into a mold that does not belong to them.
The book is divided into nine sub-topics, which deeply describe the exploration of gay/lesbian identity, life, old age, illness and love, the temptation to feel the heartbeat along the inner wall, and the ambiguity between body and desire; or the sparkling sweetness in ordinary life, It spreads among eating, walking and various companionships; it even includes gay couples’ pursuit of reproductive and parenting rights, and extends the scope to transgender. A female-to-male mother came forward to talk about how she faced a shave like Nezha. How to support and respect the choices of the next generation when a newborn baby returns flesh to its mother and bones to its father.
Going deep into the daily life of gays, they have gone through the friction of relatives, the struggle of authority and the system, freed from the confusion of love and desire, and even went straight to the inner core voice of "who am I" to ask... Since the new century, Taiwanese gays have gone from being sexually secretive to In the public eye; in the face of social oppression, he still tries to clean up the broken things, and continues to bravely face the situation while crying and laughing. This collection of essays collects his/her figures, either stoic or fragile. After generations of searching in the dark, collisions and scratches, they still contain a gentle power that pours out and is hard to stop.
