The Shape of Home: Soupy and Struan's Scottish Adventure

 

 

　　

　　The marriage eventually ended, a decision I had always feared.

　　Struan said, "I saw a lonely beautiful woman in the sky, so I wanted to come down quickly to be with Mommy."

　　From the moment they are born, children are each other's best companions and best friends—

　　Mama takes care of the child's daily life, and the child silently protects her during her low points.

　　

　　Struan's existence made Soupy realize:

　　"A mother doesn't have to be perfect; a mother can make mistakes.

　　When sad, she can also cry in front of her child."

 

　　While raising her child, she also became a "child for the second time," having a blast together.

　　They could travel together, browse flea markets together, go to an izakaya for dinner together,

　　and also go to toy stores, amusement parks, and fast-food restaurants together.

 

　　During a long stay in Scotland,

　　her ex-husband's family made Soupy feel love and care beyond the marital relationship.

　　Divorce allowed her to regain control over her life,

　　and along the way, she discovered that "home" and "love" can take many forms and appearances—

　　the full support and companionship from family and friends is a form of love.

　　The love and bond between parents and children will not diminish with changes in the relationship;

　　for a child, their dad and mom will always be their dad and mom.

　　

 

　　Struan, who acts like a little adult in his words and deeds,

　　always speaks calmly and maturely, making Soupy both annoyed and amused—

　　refusing chocolate, drinking warm water, snacking on red dates,

　　believing in the food compatibility chart from the lunar calendar, describing lottery shops as places where money turns into bubbles…

　

　　Of course, there are also times when he is incredibly heartwarming, melting the hearts of his mother and aunts—

　　picking up beautiful flowers and small berries on the street, saying they are medals for his mom,

　　telling his mom to remember to find him in the next life, as he wants to be a father who dotes on his daughter;

　　and most importantly, reminding Soupy to be a happy person herself before being a "mom,"

　　because a happy mom makes for a happy child.
