"What has not passed is actually brewing."
The world is chaotic, with legislative scandals involving drugs, gang and police bribery and betrayal, and power struggles in academia...
Amidst countless acts of violence, how can people find peace and freedom?
"Minor Violence" is a story of redemption after experiencing violence. Set in Taiwan, it recounts a series of intertwined and complex violent incidents. It begins with police officer Xiao Gu investigating the illegal activities of political masterminds behind the scenes, leading to a deeper investigation into drug involvement at a legislator's clubhouse, power struggles among deans in higher education, and bribery and betrayal between gangs and the police... showcasing the interactive influence and cycle of various forms of violence, including domestic violence, school bullying, and gang shootouts.
The author presents the diversity of family relationships and the struggles and choices of individuals in adversity through the perspectives of different characters involved in the events. From Zhou Yufen's female perspective, she describes fleeing marital constraints to pursue herself, yet harming her young child; Hong An'an, who suffered domestic violence since childhood but still yearns for her father's love and approval; and Xia Mu, who lost her mother and faces the care and love of others but fears getting hurt again.
Despite personally experiencing the shadows of different forms of violence, yearning for love and understanding yet unable to satisfy it, several main characters in the novel continue to make choices in the difficulties of their lives. Some choose to escape their families and pasts, others leave the system to live for themselves, and still others accept past hurts and reconcile.
Even in a world full of violence, an exit and redemption can still be found.
