Every night, as darkness fell, the shadows on the walls transformed into monsters in the little boy's eyes. They lingered by his bed, invading his dreams...

Until one day, he dreamt of a giant bird with wings adorned with a hundred thousand stars, which introduced him to a peculiar "friend." This friend had messy hair and wore fur. He gently took the boy's hand and said, "Don't be afraid, I've been with you since you were born."

Unexpectedly, this peculiar friend turned out to be the boy's own shadow.

Guided by his shadow, the little boy discovered that darkness was not so scary after all, and even held a dazzling, fantastical adventure!

"Fear of the dark" is a common experience for many children, and it was no different for Ye Changqing's son. The hope that his child, who feared the dark, could feel companionship and beauty within it, was the original intention that led him to create his first picture book, "Shadow Play," after transitioning from comics.

From the initial oppressive darkness to the great bird with wings full of stars, Ye Changqing transformed "darkness" and "shadows" from terrifying monsters into guardians who understood him best. "Shadow Play" features cinematic, exquisite visuals, and the adorable little creatures within the scenes are his warmest blessing to children – hoping that at night, they experience not just fear, but also wonder, peace, and beauty.

With a heart full of love for his child, Ye Changqing hopes that every child feels empowered when they close their eyes. "Shadow Play" is a dreamlike creation, tailor-made by Ye Changqing as a father for his child.
