The Blind Spot of Love: Film and Literature

What is love? Is love a product of genes or culture? Why do people become narcissistic? Are humanitarianism and selflessness also illusions? What is romance? Can love be reduced to an equation?

　　The emergence of love is endless, dispersed throughout life, art, novels, films, and other works. Through the embellishment of imagination, giving and receiving love is a continuous chain of life, yet romance does not follow a straight path.

　　Tao Kwok-cheung has taught "The Philosophy of Love" for many years in the General Education program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Through concise philosophical, psychological, sociological, and even biological approaches, he profoundly yet simply analyzes the multifaceted phenomena of love. The book introduces over forty films and literary works, outlining various romantic phenomena throughout history, helping us to understand ourselves and others amidst the quagmire of emotions, and to find a glimmer of hope.
