This photo collection, "Kandō,," features 121 works by Japanese photographer Yomichi Saito. He avoids defining emotions with words, confronting the unknown in a rich silence, continuously capturing moments of life through photography. Saito intuitively believes that "Kandō" (deep emotion/inspiration) is the starting point for all photography and life, a profound existence that cannot be overlooked.

Now, moments when living beings intersect. Unknown existences, the world, and the self – these interwoven elements can still be reconnected. "Kandō" is precisely the genesis of photography and humanity, a core he always cherishes.

"This inescapable body, this country, this era. I cannot leave here, yet I still move forward. Moving forward. Where to? Deep within, to the bottom, to even deeper depths. Outwardly, nothing seems to change, but inwardly, amidst the infiltration of birth, aging, sickness, and death, though I once gave up but refused to stay defeated, I still, for some reason, continue to deepen towards that boundless depth."

The photo collection "Kandō," in the breath of time, firmly believes in the power of deepening and embodies this phenomenon in the form of a book. Like water eroding stone, the "deepening thing" within each person slowly takes shape; things that are no longer present still exist, carrying a light weight. The future, hard to see yet never-ending, resides in that small comma "、", containing a tiny hope for what is to come.

This photo collection is not only Yomichi Saito's intuitive record of life but also a profound exploration of existence and emotion. May "Kandō," continue to reach more people and inspire resonance.
