Our Father in heaven

"Our Father in Heaven" is Hong Kong author Li Jiayi's new work after "Exposure," and her first poetry collection, comprising most of the poems she has written to date. The collection is named after the first line of the Lord's Prayer, "Our Father in Heaven...," attempting to guide readers into a scenario: a person constantly asking questions upwards to an unknown, vast entity, interspersed with narratives, queries, complaints... Through this prolonged process of questioning, the book delves into the formation of life and self, explores the trajectory of growth and struggle, and attempts to reach wholeness.
 
Amidst this brutality, we discover that whether reading or writing poetry, we can experience a delayed reading sensation as the ultimate reward. This means that all pain, joy, incomprehension, anger, fantasy, reality, and fiction can be subsumed and understood here by a properly arranged, unknown system. In other words, poets can express and readers can read within the infinite space of "poetry," transforming all compressed, amplified, re-created, distorted, and processed words into their own reality, allowing poetry to seek an eternally delayed correspondence in our prolonged understanding.
 
"Our Father in Heaven" attempts, in the form of a poetry collection, to continuously explore various expressions best suited for the poet within this delayed space, allowing readers and the poet to collectively accept the guidance and constraint of a hidden compass, and together draw their own life symbols.
