On May 26, 2016, without prior notice, the Marine and Water Bureau suddenly cordoned off 11 plots of land in Lai Chi Vun, fragmenting this complete industrial heritage site.
In late January 2017, the Marine and Water Bureau announced that the shipyard would be gradually demolished in March. Last week, on March 8, at around 9 am, the Marine and Water Bureau suddenly issued a press release, announcing the immediate demolition of shipyards X12 and X15 that very day.
Everything is now imminent. These precious cultural heritage sites are on the verge of disappearing as the demolition date approaches, and everything on the map may soon cease to exist.
