In ancient times, Earth entered an ice age, causing a drastic reduction in the human population. Land and buildings were covered in snow, and once-prosperous cities became ruins. The surviving humans gradually evolved into a species covered in fur to adapt to the cold climate. With civilization completely destroyed, humans became idle, their cognitive abilities and consciousness beginning to degenerate. Meanwhile, the cats, previously domesticated by humans, gradually evolved into large-bodied, sentient beings that began to care for humans. In other words, humans became more like cats, and cats became more like humans.
