UNESCO announced on October 30, 2017, that the "Archivals of Macao Local Government in the Qing Dynasty (1693─1886)" jointly submitted by the Macao Archives of the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the National Archives of Portugal's Tower of Dombo were included in the "Memory of the World Register". This batch of archives reflects the social conditions, people's lives, urban construction and commercial trade of Macao during the Qing Dynasty. It also reflects the special status and role of Macao in the world at that time. The exhibition "Chinese Documents - Stories of Macao in the Archives of Pagoda Tombo" displays more than a hundred archival documents, allowing the general public to read together the stories recorded in the archives that happened in Macao but are related to China, Portugal, and even confirm important processes in world history. The archival documents will be corroborated with relevant graphic and textual materials from the Qing Dynasty in order to recreate the rich and colorful historical picture of Macao during the Qing Dynasty.
