The Chinese have long been an agrarian society, relying on the land for sustenance. This tradition of gratitude towards the earth was incorporated into national rituals and was also prevalent among the populace. To this day, it has been personified as the white-bearded and crane-faced Tudigong (Earth God), with approximately 170 shrines dedicated to him found in the streets of Macao alone. Starting in 2017, the author of this book, Chen Peng, explored these street corners, meticulously creating 3D computer models of each shrine, accompanied by introductions and essays, comprehensively documenting the history and current state of Macao's Earth God shrines.
