Whether the next generation chooses to stay or leave, to learn or not to learn, to give up or persevere, will impact the continuation of traditional industrial culture.
The economic value of traditional industries may not be as brilliant as it once was, but they contain the cultural spirit of countless predecessors' hard work and dedication, as well as their identification with and commitment to this land. In the story, the little boy's father is willing to return home to take over the family business, innovate, and transform, bringing new life to an old industry. Although the little boy is young, seeing his grandfather's dedication to glass craftsmanship and his father's commitment to and valuing of family, he develops a greater sense of identity with life, family, kinship, and craft culture through their mutual support and care.
