This story is an adaptation of "The Stone Toad of Casa Grande" by Macanese Portuguese writer Luís Gonzaga Gomes, originally published in the Portuguese newspaper "Notícias de Macau." It serves as a cautionary tale against harming others for momentary greed, warning that such actions will inevitably backfire.
