This book focuses on finding the coupling points between the theory of spatial production and semiotics, connecting these two macro and micro theories, and constructing a semiotic research framework for the production of tourism spaces in historic districts. The case study results found that cultural significance is consistently a key factor in the production of tourism spaces in historic districts, and spatial production is essentially a semiotic process of spatial meaning and a game of spatial power. Another key point is to explore the conceptual connotations and production mechanisms of representational space in the tourism domain, while also revealing the role of tourists in spatial production. In the micro-level study of landscape spatial production and spatial interaction, the author used relevant knowledge from architecture, tourism, sociology, and semiotics for interdisciplinary analysis, aiming to micro-analyze the production of tourism spaces in historic districts.
