Nihilist

A sixteen-year-old writer, whose life, however, ended at seventeen.

On the day of the 2023 DSE results release, a young man fell from a height, ending his seventeen-year life. Before his death, he was deeply engrossed in philosophical studies and combined his understanding of philosophical thought with the fantasies of adolescent growth to write his first novel, "The Nihilist." His wish was to publish the novel and give the royalties to his beloved father.

"The Nihilist" is a product of this era, and also a direct projection of this unique young man's views on the world around him, on human relationships, the yearning for lust, disappointment with adults, and events happening in society. We can't help but sigh and wonder why, in this era full of problems, we pretend not to hear and not to see? The loss of the soul, the emptiness of the heart, the plummeting of trust—people no longer have the confidence to hold onto their own world. Not asking or addressing these issues does not mean they don't exist. Living in a different era, how many lost souls are there still in society?
