Metamorphoses (Simplified)

When Gregor Samsa awoke one morning to find himself transformed into a giant insect, his parents and sister were terrified. The lodgers and maid all left, and the family lost its sole financial provider. Although Gregor cared deeply for his family, his actions as an insect proved counterproductive. His father utterly despised his son, now a burden, while his mother and sister's attitudes shifted from sympathy and hope to anger and disgust. When his beloved sister threatened to cast him out of the house, Gregor finally collapsed, near death.
