The mosquito in others' eyes: It's just a sock not put away properly, why are you so angry?
The elephant in your heart: Maintaining tidiness is my daily routine; if you value me, you wouldn't disrupt it.
The mosquito in others' eyes: Your neighbors are noisy, why don't you confront them directly?
The elephant in your heart: Conflict is a "dangerous" sign; it could harm me.
The mosquito in others' eyes: Isn't it great that they didn't ask you for help? Saves you trouble.
The elephant in your heart: Am I unpopular, no longer needed?
Things that seem as small as a "mosquito" can trigger emotions as big as an "elephant."
Every emotion has a cause. Usually, we know why we're depressed or angry. But sometimes, seemingly insignificant trifles to others can pierce deep into our hearts like a mosquito's sharp proboscis, causing us to erupt in fury, or even feel depressed and sad, without us knowing why.
These "trifles" might be an unanswered message, a sudden phone ring during work, or perhaps poor service at a restaurant, or an unintentional remark from a friend. They reflect our past life experiences, underlying self-identity, and deep-seated inner traumas. We easily and unconsciously avoid them, but inadvertently neglect our truest emotional needs, falling into low moods.
German psychologists Hannes and Wendel, combining 45 years of clinical experience and practical case analyses, help us listen to our true inner voices, recognize our needs, strengthen our inner power, and through a process of self-practice, we can find courage from emotions and discover ways to break through impasses. Everyone has their own mosquitoes and elephants, and after this healing journey, the elephant will emerge from behind the mosquito, finding its own peace.
