First prize winner of the 6th Zhou Mengdie Poetry Award
Hong Kong poet Wong Woo-ping's first poetry collection
From erotic noise to queer poetry
Shake the boundaries and tease the senses
"The work exists only for me
I don’t exist in reality:
Virtual account, limited time updates
I live for you to watch, I live for you to watch, I live to share
To entertain you, I am a great entertainer
It's not enough to be in extreme pain. I need the whole world to pay attention to my extreme pain. Only then will I be happy and happy.
The ambiguity of reality is sad
You are the one who creates ambiguity in literature.
Just pick up a wooden box and stand on it: finish talking
Finish what you said, this is the only limited time update."
──"Inside the Labyrinth", Wang Heping
Wang Heping is a novelist, musician and poet. Her singing and music are sometimes gentle and murmuring, and sometimes have an avant-garde sense of indifference. On the contrary, when presented in (mostly) purely literal poems, they are very dynamic and repeatedly present rich pictures. Of course, there are also different aspects when reading. A voice sounded in my head. Just as Wu Mingyi once said in the preface to her collection of novels, "Her words have a rhythm of their own: not a dense rhetorical kind, but an 'intermittent' emphasis, or a kind of 'ambient noise' produced between the words. An atmosphere wraps up the plot and the story." With the novel like this, we can imagine how suitable she would be for writing poetry.
Most of the poems in "Modified Apartment" were written during the author's time in Hualien, and many of them were even completed before her first novel. In her acceptance speech, she also admitted that when writing these poems, there were many very refreshing, exciting, and cerebral moments - these were all times of playing with words, sounds, and consciousness. There are also many poems that were written just in one moment. "It's just a moment. But behind this moment, it represents the combination of the right time, place, right people, sun, air, moisture, soil, and my mood at that time. I put myself in Hualien, in that creative period blessed by nature, all kinds of things Only by combining them can we achieve what is called: a moment. Therefore, I think "Mobile Apartment" is irreplaceable. Because that magic is limited in time and place."
This book won the first prize of the 6th Zhou Mengdie Poetry Award and was shortlisted for the Yang Mu Poetry Award. Judge and poet Chen Yizhi specifically pointed out that he believed that this collection of poems does not rely on the collage and stacking of words, but is particularly expressive and has the characteristics of contemporary poetry. The author's language is concise and his poems are clever and intelligent. It seems to be careless, but in fact it is a wonderful pen that means something. The greatest feature of the whole work is "ambiguity". Wang Heping, who was born in Hong Kong, also believes that "the more identities, the more places, the more genders, the more wounds, the more entrances to understanding others. The more ambiguities, the more things that have not yet been discovered." The more definitions there are, the more possibilities there are.”
The book is divided into six series. Reading the series titles first is enough to make readers excited and curious. The first album "Walking Around" starts casually, "from private parts to area C/from area 4 to death". The second part, "Center of the Road," is as bold as the light falling. When lighting incense, you only put yourself into it. "You don't respect God and you don't respect people." The third volume, "Bright Vagina," is about worshiping the female body at will, making people blush and heartbeat. "Those who love it more spend more effort." The fourth volume, "Room within a Room," contains a guitarist's room, a machine with words, and pictures and poems cut and pasted from supermarket DMs. Let's face it - "Creation is my destiny." The fifth volume, "Daily Ritual," contains the author's recorded notes: "None of the vocalizations were the same," and "I was sweating all the time." The name of the last album "Shake to Restore" actually comes from the built-in restore input function of the mobile phone. It also contains cut-and-paste pictures and poems to explore the maze-like inner world. It turns out that poets are great entertainers and give you eternal gaming time. .
