In 2018, in Taipei, Yang Yang, a university student, was at a crossroads in her life. Her beloved grandmother, who had raised her single-handedly, passed away after a long illness. The very person who was her emotional anchor, whom she was about to confess her feelings to, already had a partner and didn't love her at all. Emotionally and physically exhausted, Yang Yang received an opportunity to study in Okinawa for a year. In a foreign land that was both strange and familiar, she could temporarily escape her chaotic reality, reflect on her growth experiences and traumas, and ponder who "I" truly am. At the same time, the people, events, and things she encountered in Okinawa, as well as the brutal history of war from not long ago, reflected on her own past, present, and future, as well as Taiwan's. The landscapes of life she had never seen alone before gradually unfolded before her...

This book is the second full-length work by Taiwanese cartoonist Kao Yen, drawing from her own life experiences. Starting from the growth journey of a Taiwanese girl, it spans from Taiwan to Okinawa, from the Pacific War, the Sunflower Student Movement, to Taiwan's 2018 same-sex marriage referendum. It delves into topics such as campus bullying, political awakening and identity, love, sexuality, and the clash with different cultures, ultimately culminating in the pursuit of personal meaning and self-reflection. It is not only a profound personal life history but also a cross-section of a Taiwanese generation, recording the shared memories and emotions of you and me in this era.
