I truly understood these words only after becoming a volunteer...
□ There are 1,000 cats and dogs in one shelter in Taiwan.
□ Shelter animals are kept in cages, with 4 to 8 dogs/cats per cage.
□ In a shelter, a dog is considered lucky if it gets out once a week; cats never get to leave their cages for fresh air.
□ Almost all shelters in Taiwan are located next to "garbage dumps, recycling plants, or septic tank facilities."
□ Cats and dogs in shelters eat the same feed every day, which is not sold on the market, and its ingredients are of unknown authenticity.
□ Cats and dogs here are different from household pets; they are "injured" and require more patience and love...
