Virginia Woolf's diary, written over twenty-four years, contains more than 500 nights and days of private musings.

"Perhaps I shall not be 'famous' or 'great,' but I will continue to venture, to change, to broaden my horizons, to refuse to be trampled upon, to refuse to conform. The important thing is to free myself, to find my own space without limitations."

This book is a selection of Virginia Woolf's diaries compiled by her husband, Leonard Woolf, featuring precious entries from 1918 to 1941. We see how she navigated thorny paths; as a female writer, her work received almost as much denigration as praise. On one hand, she declared, "I write as I please," while on the other, she was "desperately searching for my name in articles and reviews." She would "caustically" comment on the works of famous authors, and by following her diary, we can almost obtain an exquisite diary of an exquisite diary.
