One evening sixteen years ago, a poet friend asked, "Uncle Hung Jai, are you still writing poetry?" This question reminded Hung Jai (Yuen Chi Hung) of his dedication to poetry and inspired the title of this collection, "Are You Still Writing Poetry?". Hung Jai's previous poetry collection, "Night Stand," was published in 1985, under the pen name Wu Lu. Now, he is publishing another personal poetry collection, this time under his real name, Yuen Chi Hung. Is it only a little over a hundred pages of poetry after more than thirty years? When Hung Jai wasn't writing poetry, he was certainly living life. In his youth, he traveled, taught, and participated in social movements; after having children, he accompanied his son to observe trees on the street; now, he listens to children tell stories and write poems, and walks with his grown-up son. This book is Hung Jai's fluid memory. He attempts to trace the trajectory of time, writing over forty bilingual poems spanning more than three decades. The scenes move between family members and within the city, containing warmth and care, as well as unease and rebellion. Some people he loved and respected, and some historical social moments he could not forget, also found their way into his poems. This book has five chapters: "Are You Still Writing Poetry?", "Stories", "Stance", "The Side Profile of Jesus is Beautiful", and "Afterthoughts with Madeleine".
