Taipei Lovers

This novel is based on historical testimonies and related materials about Taiwan's April 6th Incident that the author collected over many years. Although the characters' names, inner thoughts, and dialogues in the book are fictional, most of the events, organizations, and texts mentioned are verifiable. The entire book is narrated in the first person. The main storyline tells of an old woman who returns to Taiwan from Beijing to visit the individuals involved, searching for her lover who disappeared fifty years ago, and uncovering the dust-covered memories surrounding the April 6th student movement. In the secondary storyline, Taiwanese university students in the 1990s launched a movement to lift the ban and vindicate those involved. The novel interprets the student movement in Taiwan under the White Terror from a unique perspective, and although it is a work of literature, it fills a gap in historical writing.
