The poet Chow Hon-fai, who was born in Hong Kong in the late 1970s, has a simple, low-key and dense poetry style that contains restrained emotions and has its own inherent rhythm.

This poetry collection is divided into three parts: including Chow Han-fai's well-known "Hong Kong Public Housing Poems Series", as well as "Hong Kong Streets and Geography Poems" and "Hong Kong Food Poems Series". Chow Han-fai is good at describing grassroots life in a detailed way, including the prostitute who died at the hands of her clients, the young mother who abandoned her baby, the primary school student who fell from the building, the teenager who stole his father's wallet, and the father whose son immigrated to another country. He tells stories in verse and uses plot twists. It reveals the thoughts of humanistic care and religious salvation. The low-key long-shot style is Chow Han-fai's unique life-oriented writing, and it also inherits the unique vein of Hong Kong poetry since Ye Si, Yip Fai, Tang A-lam, Kwan Meng-nan, etc.

After his previous poetry collection "Light in the Dust" disappeared from the Hong Kong Literary Biennial Award in 2021, Chow Han-fai has not stopped writing poetry and returned again with "The Earth Is in the Heart" with sincere and plain emotions.

I'm almost only good at writing and living on a tight budget
