In contemporary society, intimate relationships are undergoing dramatic changes, and young people are experiencing unprecedented interpersonal alienation and anxiety. Faced with this isolation, the human need for companionship, love, comfort, and support remains constant. Against this backdrop, the non-profit online media "The Reporter" has tracked phenomena such as rented partners, "sleep calls," dating apps, photoshoot models, and silicone dolls. Behind these emerging forms of intimate relationships, it reflects how modern people
are seeking suitable ways to settle down, exploring various forms of solace in loneliness, while the imagination and reality of romance are a diverse and constantly evolving process.
The emergence of the "loneliness economy" phenomenon seems to be showing us that modern people are exploring new intimate relationship models that differ from tradition. The reporting team conducted thematic interviews and fieldwork. High work pressure and the influence of capitalism have prompted people to increasingly lean towards commercialized, "non-body temperature" intimate relationships in the online world. Swiping left for goodbye, swiping right for like – after seeking and trying different forms of intimate relationships, how do people achieve self-
stability? In the contract of a rented partner, how does one experience the warmth of intimacy? What societal changes are analyzed by sociologists and writers from these new social connections that differ from the past?
"The Reporter's Case Files" launches its third installment, 003 "Relationships Without Body Temperature," interpreting this cross-disciplinary issue involving internet technology, intimate relationships, and the loneliness economy.
