When Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" Concerto "Summer" meets the joyful and exciting water polo battle, what kind of sparks will be stirred up? Picture book author Suzy Lee, through freehand and vivid paintings, interweaves music with water droplets, clouds, children, lightning and thunder, creating picture books that can be read with "five senses", bringing fresh and vibrant summer stories .
The story follows the "Summer" Concerto and is divided into three movements:
☀Summer's first movement: Allegro not too fast
The performers entered the arena one after another, and when the first syllable of the violinist fell, the melodious ensemble of the orchestra began. The long music turns into soft and erratic lines, unveiling the sunny outdoor scenery behind the stage curtain.
The children holding up the water polo announced the start of the water play game, and the various water polos turned into colorful fragments at the moment of hitting, bursting out with blue lines and dots. The blue water splashes follow the rhythm of the notes, jumping and rolling on the paper. As the rhythm of the music gets faster and faster, the interest in playing with water also reaches its peak. Then the children lay down on the grass to rest contentedly, and the slow and soft long tone at the end of the movement seemed to be a sigh of satisfaction for them.
☀Xia Second Movement: Adagio and Upbeat - Presto and Forte
The second movement is slowly opened with a violin solo, followed by a line of staves across the screen, with dense black dots at the end flying like rapid notes, implying the faint sound of thunder in the distance.
The figure of the children interlaced with the music score, which is different from the excitement of smashing the water polo before. Now they carefully observe the changes in the water and focus on the interaction with the water. The drops of water turn into rolling notes on the staff, and the lines of the water column convey the strength of the melody. The dark clouds form a dense cloud layer, which brings moisture and weight to the picture, foretelling that heavy rain is about to hit. Finally, as if to disperse the dark clouds, a jet of water sprayed into the air, forming a colorful rainbow in the blank space.
☀Summer third movement: Presto
The musicians paused here, as if waiting for the conductor, as if they were watching the performance on the stage, and then fell into the rapid and strong melody. The sound of the music turned into chaotic strokes of colored pencils, gradually enveloping the entire orchestra like a whirlwind. The wind blew into the stage, and a summer thunderstorm finally fell where the children were.
The torrential rain made the air no longer stuffy. Even in the storm, the children still enjoyed it like playing a game.
Lines that symbolize rain and music fill the picture, and lightning and thunder relay to report. As the musicians continued to play, the wind and rain penetrated the front and back of the scene; when the music came to an end, the rain gradually became smaller. When the stage curtain was opened again, it was raining and sunny. The breeze blew the curtain and raised a corner, as if announcing with a smile: summer is coming.
