Nara Yoshitomo 48 girls
Nara Yoshitomo 48 girls
Even if he gets lost in the dark, he is always painting.
★Nara Yoshitomo's most naked graphic creation reproduced out of print★
This book is a collection of Yoshitomo Nara's very special creative attempt - the cover drawn for the wide-edited magazine of Chikuma Shobo in Japan. Most of the covers of Japanese magazines are idol stars, and it is quite rare to use illustrations on the cover. Yoshitomo Nara agreed to accept this serialization invitation.
The collaboration spanned 3 years and portrayed 36 women between 2006 and 2009. In order to complete the book, Nara personally selected another 12 paintings, a total of 48 women, together with 48 poems written by himself, and assembled this book.
The words in the book nakedly show the scenery in Yoshitomo Nara's heart. Through these words, he leads us to fly in the realm of reality and fantasy, sometimes listening to music, sometimes watching the sunset, and most of the time doing nothing, just quietly Gazing at moonlit nights, forests or starlight. The only constant is his passion for creation, as written in the last chapter of the book:
"The picture is about to explode!
Doesn't matter here or where!
The same song is playing!
Unchanging pastels sharpened with a pencil sharpener!
Just keep drawing!
NOW AGAIN! "
