Candida Heffer: The Realm of the Sky
Candida Heffer: The Realm of the Sky
Candida. Heffer is considered one of the most important conceptual photography artists of the second half of the twentieth century. Her best-known photographs feature eye-level, orthogonal views of empty public buildings. These images are printed into works that are 2.59 meters wide and 2 meters high, mainly showing different periods and types of Western cultural buildings. Many of her recent works feature buildings designed mostly by Pritzker Architecture Prize winners.
The works on display in "The Realm of Macrospace" are selected from Heffer's creative career over the past twenty years. They have rich themes and are presented through "walkways", "theater", "museum", "library", "world view" " and "latest works" six units are presented. The exhibition is carefully designed, and each theme is self-contained in its own independent unit, leading the audience into a rhythmic, step-by-step and in-depth thinking experience.
The exhibition title is inspired by Heffer’s holistic perspective used to capture specific architectural spatial contexts. This environment carries with it the human desire to protect, reproduce and transmit a historical heritage derived from deep beliefs and aesthetics. Through photography, Heffer reimagines these important buildings and once again asks how they continue to shape and influence the collective memory of future generations.
