The Logic of Meaning: To Alice

The year after Différence et Répétition was published (1969), Deleuze published Logique du sens (The Logic of Sense), a book that also plays a very important role in his thought. As Michel Foucault, a giant of 20th-century contemporary philosophical thought, said when discussing Deleuze's two most representative works, Différence et Répétition and Logique du sens, he used "Perhaps One Day, This Century Will Be Deleuzian" as an introduction. The original text was included in Dits et Écrits: "I must speak of two books which, for me, stand out among all the great works: Différence et Répétition and Logique du sens. They are undoubtedly so important, so difficult to talk about and so difficult to bring to completion. For a long time, I believe, this work, above our intellect, has, through an enigmatic resonance with Klossowski’s work, turned other great and extreme signs. Yet one day, perhaps, this century will be Deleuzian."
