"Anime" (Anime) is one of Japan's most successful cultural exports. Its influence has spanned film, literature, comics and video games for decades. However, the background paintings of this art type have always been shrouded in mystery, especially the works of the "pre-digital" period before 2000.
"Anime Architecture" originated from the "Anime Architecture" exhibition that was first exhibited at the Museum for Architecture Drawing in Berlin in 2016. Curated by the author of this book, Stefan Riekeles, the exhibition presents the development process behind the art world of cities and buildings in Japan's most influential classic sci-fi animation films, and how these animations create The "Cyberpunk" (Cyberpunk) sci-fi scene and aesthetic style that influenced future generations.
