Macau in History

This book is a history of Macau's development written by the Macanese historian J.M. Braga. It is a translation of the 1902 English original, with three additional chapters from the 1926 revised edition. The author primarily uses Portuguese historical sources and takes the perspective of the Portuguese colonizers, defending colonialism. He vividly and concretely describes the internal situation of the Portuguese in Macau, making it a valuable reference for understanding the political and social situation in Macau in the early 20th century. After its publication in 1902, this book was long regarded by Portuguese scholars as the authoritative work on Macau history and for a long time represented the fundamental views of Portuguese scholars on the Macau issue.
