One of the protagonists of this book is you—the reader.

The story begins with the protagonist falling into an unknown space. Readers will occasionally face "choices" during their reading/exploration. Different choices may lead the reader back to the starting point, trap them in a loop within a certain plot, allow them to skip directly to a later page, or even lead them to other scenarios unrelated to this book...

"Abyss Simulator" is a cyberpunk theatrical novel, a book that generates different plot levels through interaction. It originated from another video game of the same name—a collaborative experiment by artists aaajiao and Ag during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. While the novel and the video game have different focuses and subtle differences in their sensory operation and content details, they both stem from themes related to player identity, multiple realities, and the shattering of dimensional walls, the exposure of causal chains, the rupture of various factions, melancholy, death, the final struggle, accelerationism, the blurring of reality and illusion, ominous premonitions, and yet a possibility of transformation hidden ahead. Like that virtual meta-game experiment, this book is also difficult to define. Ag blends mythology, science fiction, and multimedia realities into a seemingly anomalous spatio-temporal dimension. Upon opening this book, the reader becomes a player, and an unsupported journey of in-betweenness unfolds through the experience of reading—wandering—choosing.
