"Wenzhou Notes" is a story about Wenzhou, but Wenzhou barely appears, which is a bit of a shame. Additionally, I believe the current work system is flawed, and many jobs are unnecessary. Producing things that are quickly discarded and writing papers read by only ten people are the same thing—they fulfill the needs of the system. For this statement, I must apologize to all my friends who seriously conduct research. These thoughts came to me while folding napkins. Finally, I find it difficult to motivate myself to sugarcoat even a little bit of the truth. It's this attitude that makes my words sound like an advertisement for health insurance on a fire hydrant.
Even worse, I only have experience not working; I have no work experience. Also, I often walk. I sleep during the day, and when I'm awake, I go to the bathroom and smoke, draw, and avoid people. Spending two hours making something clear become unprecedentedly unclear is what I often do when it rains. I also shower, throw out trash, and repeatedly wet my hands with foam, peeking at high school students from the pavilion behind the bus stop. I stir-fry cat food in a wok.
For a few days in Wenzhou, I stayed in the westernmost factory district of Lucheng, and later moved back to the old city. The factory district where we stayed only had one "Wenlei Noodle Shop" that served local dishes. People appeared on the streets at different times than in the city center due to day and night shifts. Wenzhou's local cuisine is rich and delicious. Ordering food every day cost a lot, so we had to intermittently eat pig's offal noodles and rice noodles. And if you wanted glutinous rice, it was best to wake up early. Picking up things to eat and cooking for yourself were the cheapest options.
The image of a certain character that appears in the story was inspired by Zije's comic "Flash Drive." Thank you, Zije.
