No one asks them to be at the top, but they always feel they are not good enough,
even feeling guilty for resting;
They often hang out with friends, but when emotionally distressed, they tend to bear it alone;
They have made many career plans and attained higher and higher academic qualifications,
yet they feel increasingly lost after entering the workforce;
Despite an ideal quality of life, they still have no hope for this place...
Are these also the faces of Hong Kong youth you have seen?
This generation of young people, in their formative years,
seem to have more opportunities and resources than previous generations,
so why are they still unable to become the adults they aspire to be?
Amidst these perplexing contradictions and many ungrasped situations faced by youth,
how can we understand this generation of young people more concretely?
Using "mutual understanding of each other's perspectives" as a lens,
this aggregates and synthesizes recent youth research surveys by various organizations
and government statistical data,
to outline the profile of this generation of Hong Kong youth and the challenges they face;
it also considers how to respond to the needs of this generation through different practices.
As the world becomes increasingly unpredictable and people's hearts grow more anxious,
the lesson this era gives us is to learn how to be together,
and build a community of mutual support.
