Dieter Rams had a major influence on 20th century product design. He was born in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1932. He started working at Braun in 1955 and served as design director from 1961 until his retirement. During his tenure at Braun, he designed and supervised the production of some of the groundbreaking products of the 20th century. He also designed furniture for the company Weisau + Zapf (later Weissau), which is still produced today. He has designed many high-quality products with powerful functions, simple appearance and comfortable use experience, reflecting Rams' deep insight into the function and value of design in life. The "ten principles" of good design he summed up had a profound impact on later product design, and he proposed that "good design is as little design as possible".

This monograph covers Ramsay's life and work, as well as his philosophy on good design. All aspects of Rams' work and life are presented here: his work at Braun, the long-lasting furniture he designed for Verso, his extraordinary home (the only architectural work he completed), And his influence on today's important designers (Jonathan Ive, Naoto Fukasawa, Jasper Morrison, Michael Dutullo, etc.). Each chapter contains sketches, prototypes, finished products, and marketing materials for these products, providing a complete picture of Ramsay's work and its background. In addition, this book also specially includes photos of Rams's own house and Braun archives, showing the complete design of Rams in a comprehensive way.
