The story's text is very concise, yet it allows us to see unadorned sincerity shine through. Walls often evoke negative impressions of obstruction, separation, and difficulty to overcome. However, whether it's a physical wall or a metaphorical emotional barrier, the author subverts conventional notions of walls, allowing different characters to recount their warm memories with the wall. This transforms the cold, unfeeling wall in the reader's mind, giving it a different warmth.
