Reality and Illusion: An Exploration of Hong Kong Essays and Non-Fiction

This book, including the preface, comprises twenty academic papers and shorter treatises, discussing essays in both their narrow and broad senses, reflecting on the nature of what is known as "non-fiction essays" from various perspectives. While essays among the four main genres of modern literature are certainly non-fiction, non-fiction writing is not limited to essays in the narrow sense. This book includes diaries and memoirs that do not particularly emphasize literary qualities, aiming to broaden the scope of discussion and advance the understanding of "essays."
