In 2025, we published "Navigating the Narrow Path Without Turning Back." The purpose of this book was to document the landscape of independent publishing in Hong Kong during that era. We hoped that one day, someone curious about the independent publishing scene at the time might serendipitously open this book and catch a glimpse of that period.

This year, we decided to continue this long journey, directly titling the book "Editors Speak" and focusing on the theme "Books an Editor Has Worked On." The book compiles their genuine confessions in contemporary Hong Kong. There are no grand publishing manifestos here, only the most down-to-earth daily realities—how to weigh the importance of a manuscript, how to bring marginalized topics into the mainstream, how to preserve disappearing voices, and how, when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, to tirelessly weave a new path for local culture. With their professionalism and persistence, they re-stitched these scattered fragments of Hong Kong, page by page. The articles reflect the most authentic and立体 (three-dimensional) landscape of independent publishing in Hong Kong. We also hope that through the recommendations of these independent editors, some niche or market-overlooked works can be introduced to a wider readership.

We hope that through these warm words, we can preserve this "contemporaneity," so that ten, fifty, or even more years from now, when people look back at this history and want to understand how Hong Kongers of this era built their cultural frontiers, they can open this book and truly see: that in those years, there was still a group of people in Hong Kong making books this way; and that independent publishing in Hong Kong at that time had displayed such a tenacious and beautiful posture.
