"MAOSHENG" is a work that is difficult to define, so please allow me to presumptuously call it a "visual experimental journal". The initial idea was to create a portfolio for the virtual artist Maosheng. I set the birth year of "Maosheng" as 2050 and used this as a clue to organize data, then arranged images and text to create the work.
To create "Maosheng"'s works, I compiled photos taken from 2019 to 2023, meticulously selecting parts that could serve as material for the works, and then processing them. The original photos slowly transformed into ideal works, representing Maosheng's artistic language and creations. Text also became part of the images, helping me share my perspective with the viewers and annotating each set of images to make them more complete.
All images, the naming of works, size information, and text are no longer isolated elements; each medium is a language, interconnected. The objectively existing reality and virtual, subjective associations intertwine, gradually forming the complete language of the work, ultimately converging on the point of "vision." I suddenly realized that "Maosheng" might have truly existed; "Maosheng" is composed of my scattered thoughts and the data stored in different camera devices.
"MAOSHENG" does not necessarily represent Maosheng; it could also mean "lush" or even more.
