Sketching Macau - Chinnery Sketch Collection

This album contains 30 sketches by Chinnery in the museum's collection, as well as more than 70 sketches in the sketchbook of Chinnery held in trust by the museum. George. George Chinnery (1774-1852) was born in London, England. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts School and became famous in Ireland in his early years. Chenery arrived in India in 1802 and was invited by local celebrities and businessmen to paint portraits at high prices. After living in India for twenty-three years, he came to Macao, where he spent the most glorious twenty-seven years of his artistic career; he finally died in Macao.
