When you encounter a situation that is "just a little bit short,"
Can you be as optimistic as the piglet?
A very hungry piglet finds an apple, but he can't climb the tree, so he can only stand under the tree and wait for the apple to fall. After a long wait, the apple finally falls! But it hits the piglet's nose and rolls, rolls, rolls into a crack between the rocks. How can the piglet get the apple?
Sudden twists and unexpected endings
Later, a monkey and a fox come to help, but the apple rolls even further in. At this point, an elephant arrives. How will it get the apple out? After getting the apple out, facing the delicious and tempting food, will the elephant return it to the piglet, or... The unexpected humorous plot will surely make children laugh out loud.
The author, Yuichi Kimura, transforms this common life experience into a lighthearted and fun story, allowing children to understand that they may encounter various difficulties in life, but we can always face them with a positive attitude. The piglet in the story is not discouraged at all when encountering disappointing situations, but instead maintains an optimistic mood and finally welcomes an unexpected ending.
Jun Takabatake, who illustrated the story, also added an animated visual effect to this book with his signature bright color blocks and lively compositions. He uses dynamic lines to outline the vivid eyes of each animal, expressing a variety of rich emotions such as anticipation, surprise, helplessness, anger, and joy. Coupled with the page-turning effect of the picture book, it not only adds drama but also enhances the humorous fun of the story.
