Neighborhood Grocer: An Oral History of Macau's "Sido" Shopkeepers

This book is part of the "Macau Oral History Series" and is primarily based on interviews with eleven Macanese store owners. Their emotional accounts reveal the rise, prosperity, and gradual decline of the "store" (士多), a vehicle that served as a convenience for community residents and fostered neighborly ties. These stores brought many fond memories to community residents, witnessed decades of neighborly relations and community spirit in Macau's neighborhoods, and also reflected, from one perspective, the historical changes and economic development of Macau in recent decades.
