Reencounter: Ho Tao—A Hong Kong Architect's Ambitious Crossover

Tao Ho (1936-2019) was a renowned Hong Kong architect and cultural figure. He grew up among modernist architectural masters and was deeply influenced by the principles and spirit of Bauhaus. As a polymath, his interests spanned a wide range of fields, including urban planning, architectural design, graphic design, painting, sculpture, and even diverse cultural and artistic domains such as Eastern and Western philosophy and cosmology.

Architectural historian Charles Lai has collected a large volume of Tao Ho's unpublished design sketches, photographs, and materials. After seven years of organization and in-depth research, he has reconstructed Tao Ho's eventful life intertwined with Hong Kong's architecture, art, and culture, documenting a significant chapter in Hong Kong's cultural history and architectural design.
