"You must understand that everything is an illusion. When you see through the truth that reality is an illusion, then illusion can also become reality."

After thirteen years of contemplation and creation, Ping Fan, a master illustrator, collaborated with Mali, screenwriter of "Abi Sword" and a novelist, to release their new picture book, "Snow Cotton." This is not only Ping Fan's first picture book, but also his first work using Japanese art materials: the hazy, elegant color palette perfectly combines with fantastical elements and a Zen-inspired narrative style, weaving a deeply symbolic ancient legend.

The collaboration on "Snow Cotton" originated from a chance encounter between Ping Fan and Mali seven years ago on the street. To allow Ping Fan to fully express his new painting style, which he had developed for years, Mali tailored a story about wishes.

The story follows Wang Qing, a young man with an unparalleled passion for fabric. After experiencing the rise and fall of his business and being robbed by bandits, he wandered into a foreign land, where he coincidentally met an old man with mysterious powers. Under the old man's guidance, Wang Qing learned three magical arts: passing through mountains and walls, turning snow into cotton, and creating something out of nothing. However, just as he was about to achieve enlightenment, he violated his master's taboo, thus embarking on a journey full of introspection and exploration.

The stunning visuals and Zen-inspired story lead readers into a world full of fantasy and philosophy. "Snow Cotton" is not only an elegant visual feast but also a deep, tranquil reading experience.

"How does snow become cotton? This picture book tells the legend and journey of a mortal achieving immortality.

The protagonist forsakes the unhindered, rapid transit immortal arts; he rejects the alluring immortal arts of food and lust; the only immortal art he keeps is that which allows him to become a craftsman weaving 'Snow Cotton.' When the protagonist grows old, does he wish to rediscover his original aspiration? Or instead become a guide for those seeking immortality?

This is a picture book suitable for all ages, with a story rich in philosophy; new readers can add their own interpretations; the illustrations are delicate and exquisite, allowing seasoned readers to savor and collect it." — Michael Chou, Manager of Wanlong Bookstore
