Every year in recent times, more than 200 people have died in the workplace. Some were victims of accidents, while others died suddenly. Some gained public attention, while others remained unknown. The families in this book face various difficulties and experiences, directly or indirectly expressing their grievances against current laws and systems. I sincerely hope that everyone will do their utmost to protect workers and their families. In the future, I hope there will no longer be stories about someone's "remaining life." When a person is gone, it's irreversible. But when a person is gone, we should give it meaning. A momentary accident can lead to workers losing their remaining lives forever, and the remaining lives of their families are also rewritten. These nine inconspicuous stories, I hope, can create ripples on the still waters. Industrial accident cases are not just numbers; they are about living, breathing individuals. I hope that through this book, readers can empathize with the families, and then offer encouragement and blessings. I hope that the families can find comfort from their grief, strength in their confusion, and rebirth in the rest of their lives, continuing to write their unfinished life stories. Chan Sik-sze, a veteran journalist, university lecturer, and author, revisits the families of workers who died from industrial accidents. With a delicate touch, she writes more stories behind the news. When industrial accidents occur, public attention is often limited to that day's news, lacking follow-up.
