Marco Casagrande: Towards a Third Generation City

A house is where light enters. The city itself has its own biological system. It is a biological city. A galaxy where light gathers. It is also a galaxy of gaps.

The contemporary architectural theory "Open Form" has inspired many urban planning plans that encourage participation and interaction, allow continuous variation, and flexible use. "City" is a unique human product with extremely complex structure and operation methods. It puts us at the artificial interface between nature and nature. It seems to be isolated from nature, but in fact it relies on symbiosis and co-prosperity with all ecological creatures - this has also created the theory of urban acupuncture that encourages the use of local knowledge.

Finnish architect Marco. Marco Casagrande has known Taiwan since 2003. This land, full of vitality and unique urban form, nourished and assisted the formation and growth of its concept of "The Third Generation City".

This book compiles interviews with many domestic and foreign architecture and urban planning practitioners and cross-field researchers. It is like an open large-scale dialogue, introducing the concepts and project experience of experts from all walks of life. The creative background stories of more than ten pieces of Casagrande's works are interspersed into a journey that leads us to explore the future face of new forms of cities.
